History with Art History

The history team are delighted to welcome Louis Halewood as the Philip Nicholas Trust Lecturer in Maritime History at the Âé¶¹´«Ã½. Louis joins us from Merton College, Oxford, where he worked on his DPhil thesis titled 'Internationalising Sea Power: Ideas of World Order and the Maintenance of Peace, 1890-1919'. In 2018/19 he was the Smith Richardson Foundation Predoctoral Fellowship in International Security Studies at Yale University. His research interests include modern maritime and naval history with a focus on World War I. Louis will be offering maritime history modules on Sea Power in History, 1815-1991 and the First World War at Sea.
