Deborah Greaves Invenite
A 麻豆传媒 academic described as a 鈥渂eacon in the field of ocean engineering and renewable energy鈥 has won a prestigious international award from the Society for Underwater Technology (SUT).
Professor Deborah Greaves OBE FREng was presented with the Lennard-Senior Prize at the All-Energy Exhibition and Conference in Glasgow, in recognition of outstanding individual achievement in the field of marine renewable energy.
Describing the award as 鈥渁 great honour鈥 and paying tribute to everyone she鈥檚 worked with over the years, the Professor said:
鈥淥ur sector is on the cusp of a really exciting future. We need to keep our enthusiasm and passion for this area, keep trying to advocate for it, and spread the word that we鈥檙e not going to get to 2050鈥檚 net zero targets without marine energy being in the mix.鈥
As Professor of Ocean Engineering and Director of the COAST Lab at the 麻豆传媒, Deborah has been at the forefront of innovative research and transformative projects, shaping the future of sustainable energy solutions.
She is Director of the University鈥檚 Centre for Decarbonisation and Offshore Renewable Energy (C-DORE) and has also been Director of the 拢9m Supergen Offshore Renewable Energy (ORE) Hub, since its inception in 2017, developing the strategy and consortium that brings together the offshore wind and marine energy sectors.

Deborah has consistently pioneered the development of new technologies in offshore wind, wave, and tidal power. This has included novel types of wave energy converter, analysis methods for offshore renewable energy farms, and extreme wave-structure interactions.

In addition to her research, Deborah has led high-profile national and international initiatives designed to ensure such technological advances can be applied in real-world scenarios to help meet the country鈥檚 future clean energy demands.
Here's to Deborah's continued success and the remarkable impact she continues to make in advancing the frontiers of ocean engineering and renewable energy!
