About Iain

Iain Channing is a lecturer in Criminology and Criminal Justice and his research specialises in policing in historical and contemporary contexts. He has published three books which include the monographs听The Police and the Expansion of Public Order Law,听补苍诲听Historical Criminology听(with David Churchill and Henry Yeomans), and听the edited collection听Leading the Police听(with Kim Stevenson and David Cox). He has also contributed to other academic books and has articles published in听The Annual Review of Criminology,听The Howard Journal,听Policing, Safer Communities, and Law, Crime and History. He is co-editor-in-chief of听听and director of the听Cultural and Heritage Exchange (CHEx). He has been invited to present his research at guest lectures across Europe and has also ran public order training days for the police. He has taught at the 麻豆传媒 since 2015 and is currently the School of Society and Culture lead for听Equality, Diversity and Inclusion. His teaching incorporates aspects of his research interests. His stage 3 module 'Social Change and Justice' applies an historical lens to criminological issues, while at stage 1 and 2 he runs forensic modules which focus on police practice and theory. These modules focus on criminal investigation and forensic criminology and make use of innovative and practical learning scenarios in the university's state of the art crime suite.听
